TOYS ... Highlighted and Reviewed

December 02, 2008

As I mentioned last week, The Savvy Source is chalked full of articles and user reviews of books and toys. There are an ever growing lists of great educational toys, in case you are looking for some inspiration this holiday season. Here are a few toys that we have kicking around that we adore.

Kid-Tough Digital Camera
by Fisher Price
For ages 2-6 years
Our daughter received this camera from her Grandpa for her third birthday. We were traveling a lot and it gave her a chance to capture it all. The camera is durable and great when friends are over!

Littlest Petshop Whirl Around Playground
by Hasbro
For ages 3-6 years
Our preschooler adores Littlest Pets. When the weather outside is frightful, her littlest pets can play to their hearts content at the playground. She is often asks about the merry go round and why the parks that she goes to doesn't have one! Totally a great add to the Littlest Petshop obsession!

LeapFrog Fridge Phonics Magnet Set
by LeapFrog
For ages 18 months - 4 years
Both children absolutely adore the letters on the fridge! It is a great tool while cooking dinner to distract them and have the kids learn at the same time. The songs and phrases are catchy and repetitive but that is why they work so well. Leapfrog products are always popular in our home.

My First Quatro Set
by Lego Systems, Inc.
For ages 12 months - 3 years
Both my husband and I were huge lego fans as kids, and cold not wait to introduce lego to our children. Thanks to the quatro sets we didn't have to. The size is perfect for young ones to start building without frustration. We can make tunnels, bridges and houses for our cars and animals. A wonderful introduction to the world of lego!

Backyard Safari Bug Habitat
by Backyard Safari
For ages 5-6 years
The wonders of bugs. They are tiny so not so threatening yet move so fast! Our preschooler is totally fascinated with bugs. She rescues wayward earth worms, captures caterpillars and ants all in the name of science! Building and maintaining a habitat for creatures is not only fun but a wonderful way to learn about life.
