Happy Holidays

December 26, 2008

Normally I post on Thursdays, however I was so consumed into my family I never found a moment to escape to blog. That makes me extremely happy (and hopefully my bosses extremely forgiving).

In fact, I took much less pictures, no video but was in the moment. Living the moment with my children. Enjoying watching them open their gifts. My son in particular, enjoyed everything. Once a present was open, he was not on to the next, instead he examined, cherished and enjoyed each gift. This quickly spread to our preschooler and everyone was appreciating each item. In return it took us an hour and a half to make it through the piles of gifts.

I tried to keep it simple. I put a lot of energy and thought into each gift, hoping for the glee and excitement every child deserves at Christmas. As a family we enjoyed our time together. Our preschooler, determined to play with her new gear uninterrupted by her curious brother, spent a lot of time in her room, door closed, exploring her new Leapster games, her Calico Critters and her new books.

Our preschooler is growing up. Never before would she have been content to play solo for that long. Now she craves alone time, to allow her imagination to take flight. Her stories and worlds are complex and magical.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all. May your celebrations be filled with happiness, may you be so in the moment with your family that you forget everything else and be happy. I look forward to exploring, writing and sharing with you all in the New Year!
