Happy Holidays
December 26, 2008
Normally I post on Thursdays, however I was so consumed into my family I never found a moment to escape to blog. That makes me extremely happy (and hopefully my bosses extremely forgiving). In fact, I took much less pictures, no video but was in the moment. Living the moment with my children. Enjoying watching them open their gifts. My son in particular, enjoyed everything. Read more...
Tips for Last Minute Holiday Shopping
December 23, 2008
Yesterday, Leah Whitehead from CTV invited me to discuss tips on last minute shopping. I was flabbergasted, honoured and totally nervous! (note to self in future interviews take your coat off!) We discussed a lot of tips that due to time were not included in the segment that I want to share with you here. I have completed my Christmas shopping in part because I could Read more...
Three More Sleeps!
December 22, 2008
I am never sure who is more excited for Christmas morning, the kids or me! I have always adored Christmas, but sharing and creating new traditions with my family has been an experience that goes beyond that. The tree is set up, the stockings hung at the fireplace, the presents are wrapped and under the tree, we just have some baking to do and we are set till Christmas. Since it is just Read more...
Christmas Specials
December 18, 2008
We decided over a year ago to live without cable television. This decision was based in part on finances and part we just did not want the kids watching too much television. In theory I would love my children not to watch television at all. For them to be blissfully ignorant of the whole matter, laughing, playing and being kids. However, my sanity, writing, design work and Read more...

The Season of Giving
December 15, 2008
Most charities are feeling the economic crunch this holiday season. Sadly when people need it the most, is also when families are tightening their budget. Being fairly new to Halifax, I was uncertain where to donate and how to include the children in the process. I want the kids to understand that there are many people less fortunate than us, in many different ways. So this Read more...
Favourite Christmas Traditions
December 11, 2008
I have to admit, we do not have many Christmas books, yet. We have slowly gathered a few over the last few years but our collection is seriously lacking. Come to think of it, I really should get a few more this year! My favourite book as a child was The Grinch that Stole Christmas by Dr Seuss . That probably had a lot to do with watching the holiday classic on television Read more...
Holiday Traditions
December 08, 2008
I never realized how holiday traditions grew with your family. That the traditions start off small, with your small children then grow into memories of a lifetime. We have moved and spent most Christmas' in different locations since my preschooler was born. Yet there are was a few things that always remained the same. Since preschoolers thrive on predictability keeping Read more...
Tis the Season
December 01, 2008
In Canada, December is a dark, cold month bringing snow to most parts. The days are short and the darkness seems endless. The brightness of the season is a welcoming warmth and full of celebration. The sights and sounds of the season are very exciting to preschoolers. Last year was our first year with an over-excited child beside themselves and not quite themselves. Preschoolers can easily Read more...
