The End of Summer

Summertime started so slowly here in the Maritimes. The weather was dreadful, having experienced more rainy days than not. Yet we embraced that sense of magical freedom that only summer holds. Our family had a unique arrival this summer, which changed the activities slightly. We were not as adventurous as we usually are, instead we stayed close to home. Our own backyard became an oasis for our imaginations.

I create most of our lunches in the kitchen, at lunch time without much thought to packing a lunch. It is the bonus of staying at home with the children. However as time slips by this year, the approaching school year is coming. Although we have yet to decide if our preschooler will be staying for lunch or coming home (we want to understand the options at the school before deciding), packing healthy, fun lunches have been on my mind.

When she turned three, we were living internationally and had no hope of getting into the "good preschools" since we had not been on the waiting list since she was conceived.
