Celebrating Earth Day with your Children
April 14, 2009
Next week is Earth Day, April 22! We try to teach our children to live a sustainable and green life everyday, however celebrating always helps anchor those ideals. In an effort to plan our day I have been soaking up as much as I can, looking for activities that will help me teach our kids about Earth Day. Here are so ideas I have come across:
Read more...A Green Family
January 27, 2009
Slowly we have made more and more changes in our day to day lives as a family. I have always been one to be concerned for the environment, however it wasn't until I had children that I really worked hard to educate myself and my children. My husband has been slow to get on board. His stance is more about convenience and not putting too much on me, over going the hard way. He Read more...
In the New Year
January 05, 2009
Phew. I do not know about you but it is kinda nice that the holidays are over. I wish we had a little more time to unwind, but this week all the programs, school and work start back up. With the cold weather months totally surrounding us, I have a plan to keep us active. The next few months our preschooler will be attending Aquatic Kiddie Capers twice a week. She has Read more...
The One Place We Cannot Live Without
November 24, 2008
As a child I loved the library. Where I grew up it was an old library that smelled of old books and totally had an amazing children's area that was quite large and developed. Since I was a book worm to the core, it was always a place that I could not get enough of. When my daughter was born we starting going to the library. There was a babies program that taught the parents how to tell Read more...
Puppet Theatre
October 16, 2008
Puppet Theatre I have a fondness for puppets, so my preschooler has access to a variety of finger and hand puppets. Growing up with Casey and Finnegan from Mr Dressup and the Muppets of course has long influenced my love of puppets. I am not sure about you, but I have the tendency to relive my childhood, just a little with the children. Our finger puppets are wonderful to act out stories from Read more...
I'm Using My Imagination Mommy!
October 14, 2008
My child has a vivid imagination. In fact I am usually the one to try to bring her down to earth rather than inspiring her. There are many ways to encourage an active imagination in children at the preschool age. If you are searching for places to inspire look no further. The first place a child's imagination is sparked is right at home. Provide open ended toys, such as Play Silks, Read more...
Book nooks for tots: best story times and reading rooms
September 10, 2008
Our preschooler adores a good story. She can sit and listen to stories for hours and hours. Our local library has fantastic programs for all ages, especially preschoolers. In fact, all the branches in the Halifax Public Library system has time set aside for preschoolers? story-time. We attend the Story-time for 3-5 year olds, every Tuesday at 10:30 am. This is a pre-register program that is Read more...
